Your First Time At A Photoshoot?

We’ve collected some of our most frequently asked questions below.

Why do I have to pay a refundable booking deposit?

That is just to confirm your booking and ensure you’re attending your session. We allocate between 3-4 hours of studio time for you and work with some of the most talented creative team in the industry to bring you a truly unforgettable experience with stunning results. As you can imagine, they are extremely busy so we organise their schedule in advance to accommodate your session. If you choose not to use your deposit towards an order, your deposit will be returned in full within 7 working days of your completed session.

What age ranges does The Picture House cater for?

We cater for all ages, but guests under 21 years old MUST be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for insurance and liability purposes. Our photographer Derek has experience of dealing with all age groups and will make you feel comfortable whatever your age, we have had guests from as young as 9 weeks to as mature as 90 years old.

How long will my appointment last?

We ask that you allow 3-4 hours for your session. If your photoshoot is for more than 2 adults, then it will take longer than usual, but we aim for maximum 4-5 hours.

I normally don’t like having my picture taken, what can I do about this?

We understand you might feel a little nervous about having a professional photoshoot, but there’s no need to worry! Our team knows exactly how to bring the best out of you. You will soon relax into your shoot and enjoy your experience. Our photographer Derek has 15 years’ experience of taking people’s portraits from those comfortable in front of camera to those less so. Either way, you are in safe hands! 

Feeling a little bit self-conscious? You are not alone! We all have those moments where we feel exactly the same. Rest assured, if you would like some specific changes to your pictures, such as removing a tattoo or slimming your body line, it can be done by our in-house professional retouchers if required, just as any celebrities or supermodels do!

What clothing should I bring in with me?

It is all about your unique style and tastes, but we recommend you to bring a good variety of styles, a minimum of 3. Our creative team will help you choose your best outfits on the day. Think about the look you want to achieve, as well as variety. Some of the examples would be: casual, evening, smart dress, sexy lingerie, swim wear, accessories – ideally whatever you feel most comfortable in. The more variety of outfits you bring, the more fun we can have creating unique styles and the better your photoshoot will turn out.

You can also bring a selection of images or ideas to your session, if you are looking for a specific style and look. Feel free to contact us in advance to discuss any ideas!

I’ve won a makeover & photoshoot! What does my prize include?

Congratulations! Our lucky winners will get their make-up and hair styled by industry experts before going on set with our photographer Derek, together to create your stunning images. You will also receive a complimentary digital image. We believe you will have a fantastic time with us and recommend us to your friends and family!

I have ordered retouching and prints, how long will it take for them to arrive?

For digital images, you will be able to receive all the original files you purchased before you leave our studio. Our image consultant will burn a CD for you to take home, we can also email you a download link if you wish. We aim to send you any digital retouching orders within 2 weeks.

For our prints and post-production orders, please allow 4-6 weeks to arrive. Very rarely we experience delays in production, but in this case we will do our best to keep you updated with the progress of your order.

Do I have to buy the pictures? Can I buy them at a later date?

No, of course not. There is no obligation to purchase and the choice to do so is absolutely yours! We don’t employ a sales team, we believe the quality of our work speaks for itself and the choice to purchase is completely up to you. Rest assured, our aim is to make your day special and memorable – and we will focus on just that!

Please note, all orders need to be placed on the day during your viewing session. As a small business, we simply do not have the facility to store all the images we take. We do offer instalment plan options with zero interest, so you don’t have to pay for them all at once. Please discuss this with our image consultant on the day and they will be more than happy to help you!

The last studio we went to was very disappointing. Will this be the same?

We understand your concerns. The Picture House London is completely unique. In the fact that it is owned and operated by a photographer. No other portrait studio in London can say the same nor offer you the same guarantee of quality or standard of work.

All the pictures on our social media and website are taken by Derek, so you can see the quality of our work that is guaranteed for your photoshoot. Our creative team is carefully selected industry professionals with years of experience in TV, film and magazine.

Most importantly, we absolutely love our job, giving you the best experience on your day as well as creating beautiful images that you can cherish forever. So trust us, you are in good hands.
